4VEH Radio-TV station manager Storly Michel reports:
It was a Friday afternoon. And we had a crisis. We regularly assess our options for electricity to run the radio station, but for now, using generators all day every day is our only option for reliable power. So, we have a main generator and a back-up, just in case. On this day, both generators at the 4VEH broadcast center were down.
A maintenance worker was already in neighboring Dominican Republic to buy parts for the main generator, and then the backup generator stopped working, too. We desperately needed something to work!
On Saturday we called Vantz, another local mechanic, who worked all morning and finally managed to get the generator working. That was an answer to prayer!
We were expecting a high bill from the mechanic--he'd worked for several hours. But he asked for a very low, almost a token amount. When we asked him why such a low bill, he answered:
"Only pay me if you can afford it. I shouldn't have 4VEH pay me at all. I'm so blessed by the station. And even more so this week! It was the first time I could sit down with my children to watch television because of the TV channel that 4VEH just launched. (Other channels are generally not family-friendly. Believers have been asking 4VEH to help fill this void with TV that will honor God and communicate godly values with their children). `So, thank you very much for this new blessing from 4VEH,'" said Vantz.
Our mission of reaching, teaching, and serving the people of Haiti through media starts out in the 4VEH broadcasting center, the hub of all 4VEH ministry. But our facilities also serve the wider community as a venue for weddings, church services, concerts, conferences, and other events. Our building, now more than 15 years old, is in need of repairs and renovations to provide quality facilities for our media ministries and for the wider community use.
Can you help?
- Are you experienced in laying carpet, roof repairs, painting or upholstery and willing to use these skills to help repair and renovate the 4VEH broadcast center?
- Are you an experienced diesel generator mechanic willing to service our generators on a regular basis (once or twice a year) and provide help and advice when problems arise?
If you can help or willing to help underwrite costs of repairs and renovations, please contact Kent Eller at email@example.com
