Ethemba Village Ride - mind over matter
Wendell - Yesterday was another hard battle against the wind. For the first 90 minutes it was beautiful. No wind and seemingly not too warm but that was soon to change. The wind came up as did the heat and by lunch time I felt frizzled.
We turned into Clanwilliam about 2 km off the N7. Hoping to find a shop... or something open but only the spar opens on a Sunday afternoon. So we didn't hang around too long but by 2h30pm it was still hot, very hot for any sane person sitting at home but a man must do what a man must do.
I had to get to Citrusdal, still another 60 km away. Man... I dug deep in a temp. of 37 deg. C. My legs just refused to give any quality cooperation. BUT it's the old old story of... MIND OVER MATTER.
I was finished... in all manner. Had a good nights sleep. First time in a long time that I slept as late as 04h30.
Today we continue on to Picketberg, then Morreesburg, Malmsburry and finishing in Bellville. We will just see how the time goes. It's overcast right now but I think the sun will burn the clouds away. I am looking forward to getting to Cape Town. I don't know what awaits me but I know it's going to be an awesome experience.
