Update from Robin - “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” Psalms 1:1-2

Summer (what summer I ask myself) is almost over, the beech trees are already changing colour and the autumn is slipping in, the nights are closing in very quickly and a drop in temperatures in the mornings and evenings. Yes we are good at complaining but as we look back the summer has been ok, the farmers have got the crops in well so far, and the grass has grown well. Our God is still on the Throne, the day of Grace is still with us, and as the winter is not here yet let us be up and about the FATHER’S business.

“If life is to have meaning, and if God’s will is to be done, all of us have to accept who we are and what we are, give it back to God, and thank him for the way he made us. What I am is God’s gift to me; what I do with it is my gift to Him.” Warren W. Wiersbe

We as a family thank you for your prayers over the summer months and please continue to remember us in the days to come. As we prepare for the long winter session please remember we as a family will remember each one of you in our prayers also.

Indeed since I penned the last Prayer Letter there have been a number of milestones passed in the Sloss household. The first one came on 23rd June which was Stephanie’s birthday. Then on 4th July, Stephanie and Leanne organised a surprise Silver Wedding party for us. It was lovely to have so many family and friends together in one place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary (which by date was 5th July). On 7th July it was Audrey’s turn to have a birthday; it was nice just to have a lovely weekend of celebrations.

We had the privilege of hosting the annual Men for Missions night of prayer, for the work in Ireland, in our home on 27th June. We had fifteen people up-lifting the work to the Throne.

Audrey and I were invited to Strean Presbyterian, Newtownards on 23rd July to be part of a prayer meeting for the outreach at Croagh Patrick. There were eighteen people present and we had a real sense of the Holy Spirit with us.

Croagh Patrick was on 26th July. Indeed, it was a good Irish days’ weather! It was the wettest, coldest day in living memory, with only five thousand pilgrims estimated in coming to visit the mountain, and, with no mass at the summit in over one thousand five hundred years, it left the pilgrims somewhat deflated. IEB/OMS and MFM reached out to the pilgrims with a cup of juice and a gospel leaflet. We had many good conversations throughout the day.

Looking forward to September and beyond, I am excited about the OMS Rally in Trinity Church in Liverpool (this is a new venue). Audrey and I are going over to Liverpool for almost a week to share at another four meetings.

I have been invited by Dr. Silas Waweru to go out to Kenya to see how MFM-UK can help with the work in that country. Richard McLeish (MFM USA) and I are going on this survey trip and we plan to be in Kenya for a week in October 2015.

Looking to next year, I am planning an MFM team to Mozambique to work alongside the ‘Helping Hands Project’ in March 2016. If you have a heart for helping disabled people and want to see what God is doing in Mozambique, please get in touch.

We also need men and women to help paint/clean around the OMS office in Manchester. Please get in touch if you can spare a few days for this work.

O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me, Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether”. Psalms 139:1-4
