Sharing Support and Tears

with children and families left behind after tragic airline crash in Cuba

It was with heavy hearts that we spent time in Cuba sharing support, encouragement, prayers, and tears with those who were left behind after the tragic airline crash on May 18, 2018, that claimed the lives of 20 members (10 pastors and spouses) of the Cuba Church of the Nazarene.

The various forms of support we were able to give were received with much gratitude. Our ministry partners have asked us to convey their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of prayer, financial, and personal support for them and those they lead.

Financial support was utilized during these days to meet physical needs and to help family members and the remains of the deceased return to Holguin where there was a Memorial Service held on Saturday, June 2. More than 700 people, including pastors from all over the island and close relatives of the deceased, attended the service. A Memorial Certificate was given to the surviving children during the service. Several people from the families accepted the Lord. The sister of Rev. Ronni Pupo, one of the deceased pastors, accepted the Lord Jesus and gave her idols to be broken to pieces.

Please pray as plans are put in place for the dependent children who are left without parents, for extended family members, for the congregations left without a pastor, and the denomination as a whole, as they all adjust to this new reality. Our desire is to continue to help and serve them in their recovery. Your financial contributions will assist in these difficult situations.

Thank you for your part in helping our brothers and sisters in Cuba!
