Mexico church
I traveled to Mexico City in February and spent five days looking into potential projects for MFM to be involved with throughout Mexico. It was a great trip, and there are many good projects that MFM is planning on partnering with in the future. While in Mexico, I had the opportunity to visit a small church that was recently started by an OMS partner. The church of about 35 people met in the front yard of a home under a tarp tied between a tree and the house. The Church Under the Tree, as it was aptly named, was a vibrant and excited group, and it was a privilege to share with them and to see some of the needs MFM may be able to help with in the future.

Little did I realize that less than three weeks after returning to Iowa, we would be in the midst of a worldwide pandemic that had introduced us to the term social-distancing, closed our schools, and limited gatherings to 10 or fewer people. Churches were scrambling to figure out how to function under these new guidelines. I am deeply appreciative that the church we attend had the capabilities and expertise to quickly adjust, and we are able to have services streamed directly to our home through the internet.

Pleasant Grove Church
My father is the pastor of a small rural church here in Iowa that was established in 1873. What a unique experience it has been to help my parents navigate the use of the Zoom app so that their church of 30 people could gather together on Sunday mornings. This small church held an entirely online service for the first time in 147 years. As I sat in my parents' house listening to my dad preach to his congregation, I couldn't help but think of the church in Mexico. Small groups of worshipers, finding a way to gather together, and spending time in worship. May we never lose the desire to gather together in worship of the Savior.

MFM and OMS-have suspended all travel until June 30, 2020. I was supposed to travel to Israel and Hungary during this time. Additionally, I was to attend the Evangelical Press Association convention in Colorado Springs to represent MFM and ACTION Magazine in my role as managing editor for the magazine. Instead, I am spending my time at home with my wife and three of our kids. Hopefully, we will be able to move forward after June 30, 2020, and begin traveling with teams around the world. Thank you for your support of my work with Men for Missions.
