God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

For me, Easter is a wonderful time of celebration and remembrance of what a difference Jesus has made in my life. My first Easter as a believer was 11 months after I was saved. In those 11 months I was at the church in West Liberty, Illinois, or the parsonage about every day, and Scripture was coming alive as the preacher and I had discussions about the Word. He and I prayed together at least six nights a week at the altar of the church. Then my first Easter, with a clean heart, no addictions, and the knowledge that Jesus loved me, made the sun shine brighter and it was wonderful to know that I was forgiven.

The preacher worked with me for a year to get me up to zero, spiritually. He asked me to be in the pulpit about every Sunday praying, reading scripture, serving communion, or bringing the message. The people in West Liberty endured a lot, but they were kind and gracious.

I then began speaking in different Methodist churches in southeastern Illinois. One of my Good Friday messages was about Paul’s message from Mars Hill (Acts 17). I don’t know what the congregation thought, but the scripture was wonderful for me. Years later, I led a Canadian work team to Greece and India. God allowed me to stand on Mars Hill with Stan Ross and Jack Goodbrand, two great friends. I could never have imagined that God would allow me to be on Mars Hill.

God has allowed me to pray with people in different states, in different countries, with people of different languages, and all because of Christ’s love that took Him to Calvary and the cross for our sins.

God has given us many wonderful friends like Stan and Jack. We have stood on many wonderful hills around the world because of you and your love and care for us.

We stand and serve by the grace of God and in the strength of your prayers. May you have a blessed Easter.
